A tough start to life in Herts/Middx Merit Table 2 for HQE

Following last seasons league winning campaign, Hatfield QE RFC started the new season on the road at one of the strongest opponents in the division.

Bishops Stortford 4ths were one of the strongest teams in the league last year but wouldn’t gain promotion because their 3rds play in the league above which means they remain a strong team in HMMT 2.

On a wet and miserable day in North East Herts, Stortford showed their experience and composure to close out a victory 6 tries to 1 with the rolling maul from the lineout a particularly effective weapon.

Hatfield play their first home game of the season this Saturday against Letchworth 2nds at Roe Hill Hall and will be buoyed by the return of several first teamers missing from the opening game.
